Awino Mary Hope

Social Services and Author, Uganda

We are excited to announce our newest scholar, Awino Mary Hope, from Uganda. We had the pleasure of meeting her personally during a FWM distribution trip in June, and she is articulate, captivating and inspiring lady with a bright future ahead. On August 5th, she began her studies at Kyambogo University, and hopes to achieve a Bachelors Degree in Community Development and Social Justice. She has a helper who lives and attends class with her, since she is unable to use her arms to write or take notes.

Mary Hope is also an author, having already written three books. The newest is an autobiography titled, “A Coin in the Heap of Rubbish”, detailing her experience as a PWD. She has faced many challenges,

but continues to radiate with joy for a future where she can help others like her. We applaud her growth and encourage her to publish her books and further share her moving story.Mary Hope had this to say upon learning of her scholarship acceptance:

"I am overwhelmed with joy to hear that you have committed yourselves to helping me. I don’t know how to thank you. As of now, I pray to God to help me study well so that I don’t let down a great and rare love, such as this one you have given me. May God Unlimitedly bless the works of your hands.”
